By November most families are not stuck on the writing. They are stuck because every conversation about the essays turns into an argument, and a seventeen-year-old will take a note from almost anyone before they take it from a parent.
An outside reader breaks that. Danielle says the thing you have been trying to say, your child hears it as feedback instead of criticism, and you get to go back to being the parent instead of the editor.
She reads these personally, and the UC deadline lands on the same day for everyone. There is a real limit to how many sets of four she can read carefully between now and November 30, 2026, so it is capped at 25 families this cycle. When it is full it is full.
Families with drafts. They do not need to be finished — drafts are exactly what she wants to see. What she will not do is write them, and would not want to; the readers can tell.
