“What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?”
Whether your child leaves places better than they found them, at whatever scale.
Three things worth noticing before you say anything — and one rule: notice them out loud as questions, not corrections.
Define community however you honestly see it — a group, a team, a place, your high school, your hometown, your house. Just make sure you talk about your role in it.
Did you finish your Eagle project? Help at your church, or the nursery school, or the senior living facility near you? Did you start your own arts and crafts camp for kids? Did you start a club that connects out into the community?
Small and real beats large and vague. A reader remembers the specific thing you actually did.
And whatever they write: SHOW the reader, do not TELL the reader.
